This work is especially dedicated to all scientific researchers, doctors, nurses, epidemic prevention personnel, and all those who contribute to fighting the new "COVID-19".

 

Also, I dedicate this music to all those, unfortunately, suffering from "COVID- 19"and wish you a speedy recovery.

 

Praying for the economic revival......

 

The Revival was written for string quartet during the summer of 2020. Starting from the beginning of 2020, "COVID-19" has spread around the world. In order to effectively control "COVID-19", people have to stop production and work to protect themselves and other people. Due to the prolonged shutdown, the economic situation of various countries has declined rapidly; trade and economic exchanges between countries have been extremely reduced. However, a few months later, people’s efforts have achieved phased results. The number of cases of "COVID-19" was decreasing every day. People around the world were gradually returning to work. More and more factories, enterprises, schools, shops, entertainment venues, etc. had recovered. The economic conditions of various countries were gradually improving. Although there are still many countries in the world that face rigorous situations, I firmly believe that through the continuous efforts of the governments and people of all countries, we will be able to overcome "COVID-19", and the economies of all countries will gradually recover, and the people will also return to a normal pace of life! As a composer, I firmly believe that this revival will come soon!

 

For this work, I fully considered how to express the whole process from desolation to revival. In terms of music structure, I divided the piece into two parts. The first half of the piece expresses the state of economic decline and people's mood of fear, entanglement, and worrying during "COVID-19. In the second part of the piece, I depicted people's determination to fight the epidemic together through hard work and concerted efforts, and finally achieve the goal. In terms of compositional techniques, in the first half of the piece, I mainly used the method of interval counterpoint making the dark sonority to express people's fear, entanglement, and worry during "COVID-19". In the second half of the work, I used more rhythmical ideas and unison to express people's determination to fight against "COVID-19". In terms of harmonic language, I gradually changed the nervous, dark harmonies to transparent sonority. When all instruments finally reach the climax, it describes the end of "COVID-19" and the revival of the economy and everything!

作品表达了全球新冠疫情给人们带来了种种深重痛苦：死亡、病痛、亲人分离、恐惧、焦虑、贫穷、失去自由行动......我希望通过这部作品表达自己美好的愿望：在研究疫情的种种根源，疫苗药物等解决办法的同时，能够更深入地挖掘灾难深层次的原因，希望我们大家在早日经济复兴的同时更能走上灵魂幸福、自由、觉醒的道路。
