Program Notes:

    In 2020, COVID-19 effects the hearts of the Chinese people and people from around the world. As an international student, I was very frightened when I heard while living in the United States about the spread of the epidemic in my motherland China. The lock down of Wuhan, the incessant increase number of diagnoses and deaths, and the people's determination to fight the epidemic caused my heart to fluctuate with a wide-range of emotions. After nearly three months of hard work, China's epidemic situation has been basically controlled. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 in most countries of the world
makes my heart even more pained. Due to the impact of COVID-19, I had to leave my school and return to my home country.
    This work Tidal Surge of Emotion was written for solo oboe to express the ups and downs of the people's hearts during the COVID-19. The whole piece is divided into five parts that fully express the changes in people's hearts in COVID-19: from the initial doubts, puzzles, and helplessness, to the fear, sadness... This situation is beyond human's control. All we can do is protect ourselves and our relatives and friends, and pray silently, so that the "COVID-19" that sweeps the world will end soon.
    This work is especially dedicated to all scientific researchers, doctors, nurses, epidemic prevention personnel, and all those who contribute to our fight against COVID-19. They risk their own lives to protect other’s lives. This work is also dedicated to all those unfortunately suffering from "COVID-19", I wish you a speedy recovery. I sincerely hope that through the efforts of people all over the world, COVID-19 will end soon, and we will definitely return to a prosperous and happy life! I also hope that all countries in the world will stay away from diseases and disasters, and the people will have eternal health and happiness!
