Program Notes:

This piece is a tribute to my grandfather Wang HengLi (1940-2018). Being form a Buddhist background, I believe that death is the final journey in our lives. For a person, it not only means the end of life in this world. Death is an opportunity, a choice of reincarnation and liberation, because people's souls are immortal. When our be loved relatives take their last breath, their soul does not leave us. We shouldn't weep or be sad; we should help them to protect their souls and to avoid the pain of reincarnation, and to guide their soul to obtain freedom.
 

Let us pray for them with a devout heart; let their hearts find a home, not be like a leaf randomly fluttering in another world. Let us carefully guide their posthumous journey, to let them avoid the dangers and hardships of the alter life, to guide them to understand the pure land and the light of compassion, and to follow the Buddha to Western Elysium. In Buddhist thought, Western Elysium is freeing trouble, confusion, and suffering without any evil. Our deceased relatives will receive eternal relief and happiness; and one day, we will also meet with our loved ones there. This is the best time for us and our loved ones, the best dogmatic and farewell!

    这部作品特别献给我故去的爷爷王恒礼先生(1940-2018).作为一个佛教徒，我相信死亡是人生中最后一件大事，它对于一个人来说，决不仅仅意味这一世的结束。死亡是一个机遇，也是一场选择，是一场轮回与解脱的选择，因为灵魂是不灭的。当我们的亲人咽下最后一口气时，他的灵魂并没有离我们而去。我们活着的人不是只悲泣眷恋，而是应该帮助他们，使他们的神识免受轮回的痛苦，引导他们的神识出离三界而获得解脱、自在之乐。

    让我们以虔诚之心为他们祈祷，让他们的心有所归、心有所依，不至于像落叶一样在另一个世界里随风飘零。让我们悉心的为他们做死后旅程的指引，使他们能够避开中阴世界的险境与磨难，领悟慈悲的净土和明光，进而随佛往生西方极乐世界。我们坚信，在那片没有烦恼、困惑、苦难、罪恶的净土，故去的亲人将获得永恒的解脱和快乐。而终有一天，我们也必将在那里与我们所爱的人相见。这是我们与他们生命中最后的时光，最美好的告别！
